What are some good things to put in a salamander's habitat?

Okay so i have a salamander. His name is Gir. I know awesome name but anyways i have to redo his cage or terrarium or whatever it's called because all the plants are dead. I know i need dirt, water, incects, and like grass or whatever. What are some good things to put in there? Like a rock or a hollow stick or something? The cage isn't very big so it has to fit in there. Thank you in advance!
